About the Course

This course introduces different approaches of teaching fractions. It covers the journey from half, quarter, 3/4th and other familiar fraction concepts to complex concepts such as unit fraction, composite fraction, proper fraction, improper fraction, equivalence of fractions etc. What teaching aids could be used for teaching fractions, when should they be introduced and when discontinued, and other related details will be covered in this course. It will cover the understanding of fractions as ‘equal sharing’. The course will help teachers identify the common mistakes made by children while learning the concept of fractions, and how they can be addressed eff ectively. Three batches of this course will be conducted in the year 2016- 17, as per the following schedule:
